Insulator

An insulator, also known as an electric insulator, is a material that hinders the flow of electric charge. In an insulator, valence band electrons are tightly bound to the atoms around them. This material is used as an insulator in electrical devices, or serves an insulating function. Its role is to support or separate various conductors and prevent current from flowing through.
